Where Does It End?

Since the closure of so many sites including watchxonline / wtso / watchfamilyguyonline or even ninjavideo.. I am often left wondering the whole legal reasoning behind it all.

From my research it seems they are just making up things as they go, forcing in new laws to make themselves the most amount of money possible and to ruin peoples lives… I mean honestly. were does it end? Am I soon going to be arrested and charged because I lend my friend a DVD? Are we really meant to grow up now being as selfish as possible and blocking out the world and treating USA as the dominate force of our planet?

Let’s be honest now, sure they make good television but does that mean they can be so arrogant… I purchase cable, I have a PVR.. I record shows that I enjoy. Why the hell can’t I show everyone I want that hasn’t seen it? I just as easily invite my friends over to watch it pre-recorded.. If i stream it over the internet it becomes a whole legal battle of the riches.

So many questions everyone has such as these but people even at the MPAA unwilling to answer them because they don’t have a logical answer for it and they just want to make sure the movie industry makes another billion dollars so the VP’s can get another 1 million dollar/year raise.

I hate feeling like the person on the street corner screaming “the end is near” but look at how poorly everyone is being treated by the big companies and the general IQ of todays youth and perhaps the crazy guy on the corner isn’t so crazy anymore..

Hopefully, one day things will change and the companies will in brace online streaming until then. Long live all the people doing this as I am done with it. Do as you please for as long as you can.

The Other Guys – Comic-Con Panel

Hello Internet,

Just wanting to talk about the soon releasing Will Farrell movie that comes out August 6, 2010 named “The Other Guys”.

Some of the cast had a panel talking about the movie and just being themselves. This is were you get to see Will Farrell’s real side. As people were asking questions, if they had a squeaky voice or anything then he would unintentionally just make fun of them. Of course the entire audience would just laugh like crazy. But do you think that is alright for him to do?

WatchXonline.com – WTSO.NET Shut Down

Hello,

After just 1 month and 1 day from my original post about MPAA tagetting movie / tv sites. The worst fear has come to truth.

I have tried to fight as long as I possibly could for you guys and we have had a good run of almost 3 years but I guess the end has to come and it is now. We are living in a world that is completely controlled by large corporations making billions more every year then the year before only to complain they don’t earn more…

Effective August ??, 2010 WatchXonline.com / WTSO.NET will cease to have videos and just have a gateway for some ad company.. While we try and think of a new idea for everyone to visit and maybe get video reviews for tv shows right after they air to see if it’s worth you time to watch it.. or to have flash games to play when you have nothing else to do.. all the ideas are up in the air.

Thank you everyone for you dedication to WatchXOnline , WTSO over the years I shall miss you all. I am going to try and keep the forums open http://forums.wtso.net / http://forums.watchxonline.com we everyone can still chat.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to visit the forums or post here and I’ll try to reply.

MPAA and RIAA Call for Copyright Police State

Just days after the U.S Government acknowledged that the entertainment industries have misled the authorities with bogus piracy reports, the RIAA and MPAA are using those same statistics to convince the copyright czar to transform the Internet into a copyright police state.

mafiaaThe PRO-IP Act is a United States law that aims to toughen current anti-piracy measures.

As part of the Act, President Obama appointed Victoria Espinel as the new copyright czar last year. Espinel announced a public consultation a few months ago, looking for comments and suggestions from the U.S. public on how to deal with piracy.

For this consultation the RIAA and MPAA have now jointly submitted their suggestions, calling for a future without piracy.

As expected, the submission starts with bitter complaints about the massive losses the entertainment industries have to endure because of online piracy. The same old bogus studies and reports are cited, publications that were heavily criticized and labeled as inaccurate by the U.S. Government earlier this week.

What follows are a set of recommendations that, if they become law, would turn the Internet into a copyright police state. The EFF has cherry picked some of the most draconian recommendations in a recent blog post, but these are just the tip of the iceberg. We highlight some of the suggestions below.

If the RIAA and MPAA had their way…

- The public would be encouraged to install anti-piracy software on their computers which would monitor their network for copyright-infringing materials. They are most likely referring to the Digital File Check application that they’ve been plugging for a while.

- Internet service providers would have to allow third parties to spy on the files that are transferred by their customers and check them against a reference database of “fingerprints” to check whether the files are infringing copyright or not.

- Torrent sites and file-hosters would have to preemptively filter content that is uploaded to or indexed by their sites. The reasoning behind this suggestion is that the regular notice and takedown procedures are time consuming and ineffective because content quickly reappears.

- Search engines, hosting companies, payment processors, advertising agencies, social networking sites and domain registrars would be encouraged to team up with copyright holders in order to prevent online piracy. The purpose of this collaboration would be to cut off sites that ‘facilitate’ copyright infringement.

- Consumers and websites that repeatedly infringe on the rights of copyright holders would lose their Internet access.

These are just a few of the recommendations that are listed in the submission. It is quite clear that the copyright industries want full control over the Internet by building a copyright police state. Let’s hope that the politicians responsible for drafting the legislation will use their brains, instead of blindly accepting such proposals.

How to Train Your Dragon Movie Review

Hello Internet,

After a stressful week it is always nice to just sit back and enjoy a film. However, choosing the right one is the hardest part. So I am hoping the review below will help you in choosing what to watch next at the theatre or free online.

After hearing many great things about this movie I decided to go out and watch it. I must say it was an excellent movie overall, there was never a point when I wanted to get up and leave or was bored at any point. Watching it in IMAX 3D was an amazing experience in it’s self and added nicely to the movies overall feel. I am not really a writer when it comes to these things so I will just bullet point pros and cons and give my recommendations for the movie :)

Pros:
- Very enjoyable in 3D
- Easily get involved with the characters
- No boring parts
- Not overly predictable

Cons:
- Didn’t like that vikings could read and write perfectly

Do I recommend this movie?
DEFINITELY! I will be buying it on blu-ray once it is released. Support good films like this and try and limit downloading.

New South Park Censorship “201″

Hello Internet,

It annoys me to say that free speech appears to have almost come to an end after comedy central has completely altered the new South Park episode because it mentions “Mohammed” and they took it upon them selves to bleep out the entire ending of the show which Matt and Trey never intended upon. A Muslim activist group has made threats against both of them saying they will most likely be killed because of the way they portrayed “Mohammed”…

Comedy Central has since refused to re-air the episode and banned it from being viewed on southparkstudios.com.

It was a good episode and should be seen -> http://www.watchxonline.com/media/9899-south-park-1406-201-2.php .

Also, today Matt and Trey have put up a statement on the South Park studios saying “In the 14 years we’ve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn’t stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it.

Please let me know your thoughts!

California on the End of the World (2012)

While browsing the internet and looking for random videos. I believe I have found the perfect footage to see people’s thoughts on such things like 2012 which they say will be the end of the world.

You can watch the video yourself and tell me your thoughts on the whole situation. I do not buy into it.

Not to say that I didn’t like the movie though, just because the situation isn’t real doesn’t mean it couldn’t make for a watchable film.

Update: Feb 6, 2010 :: WTSO / WatchXonline

Hello,

Sorry I have not posted in such a long time been busy with life and managing everything.

I just wanted to give a little update on everything. WatchXonline is doing great as to be expected and is just about to hit 50,000,000 video views which is an EXCELLENT mile marker for the site and very proud to be a part of it. As well a nice update is soon going to be coming to it so you can subscribe to your favorite shows and get an email as soon as they air!

Update on WTSO.. over the past few months I have been changing a lot around, finally got a new player server and seem have a 99.5% video success rate to give everyone a better experience on the site! However, I can’t currently control what is happening as far as it becoming less popular.. I guess that is just how the internet works, it doesn’t matter to everyone that I’ve put everything I have into the site.. thousands of hours of work, thousands of dollars to keep it online.. putting my self online to ensure everyone has a great experience on the site.. but it seems it can just go down so easily and no one gives it a second thought.. whatever the case I am sorry to have disappointed you all. I guess in the near future we will be adding the remaining episodes to WatchXonline.com which is sad because I wanted to get a new template on WTSO.. Let me know your thoughts on that.

On a last note, we have added another site to the network.. it is not as pretty as the rest but http://moviesdesk.net but I think everyone that enjoys a great movie or 10,000 will like the site :)

Hope to hear from you all and sorry for the longer post.

As Seen On Twitter!

Hello Everyone,

With the new month only minutes away from us.  I thought it was a good time to tell you guys about the new update coming VERY soon to http://watchxonline.com . It will hopefully be your one stop shop for everything that you need when you have spare time on your hands.

As well as many random re-arranges and making things easier to navigate. We are also going to have a game section where you can play games while you wait for an episode to load or you can visit the new profile area and make a nice new profile and add friends to it and maybe in the future have groups. We are still seeing what everyone wants to see with the site and what they want to do.

This nice new update is due to release around October 5th, 2009.. but of course that can easily change at any time depending if something comes up. But be sure to check out our twitter -> http://twitter.com/watchxonline . I will be sure to update there whenever I know anything as well as update when I have added new TV shows :)

Foot note: For you Simpsons fans that seem to hate on WTSO :( We also have a decent selection of The Simpsons on WXO as well http://watchxonline.com/category/9-the-simpsons.php more episodes are being added weekly. Spread the word and help WXO become #1 :)

Foot Note 2: I guess I should mention for everyone that has been emailing me about divx. Normally I add all the TV shows in divx when they first come out while the flash version converts and then you never see the HD version again. We are adding alternative links so you can view the flash version or click the alternative link and watch either a divx version or just a different video source for that episode as well.

Thanks for all the support, especially from the people that have been with us since we were the old WXO.

WTSO.NET Thumbnail / Video Fixing

Over the past few months a few people have been complaining about certain videos not working.. some being actually the wrong episode or just little notes saying thumbnails for seasons aren’t working properly.

In prepration for the new launch of season 21 we are fixing up the place and trying to get all ads in order and make sure everyone is experiencing a good time on WTSO as that has been the goal as we are soon reaching out 2 year anniversary for watchthesimpsonsonline.com (now wtso.net)

Feel free to post your comments :)
